Now that Premier League season is over, some players and coaches have their future uncertain with rumors floating around involving the possibility of being transferred away to another club after disappointing or impressive seasons with their current clubs.
The Spanish forward Fernando Torres is one of those players which have been going through a forgetful season at Stamford Bridge but according to Jose Mourinho, Torres is in his plans for the upcoming season.
“Yes, he’s in my plans. He’s a good player’’.
“I keep saying the same Fernando is not the kind of player that with half a chance, he scores a goal. He’s not the kind of guy that’s going to score goal after goal. But the way he works, the way he moves, the work he contributes for the team… he is a player that I like, a player that the club respects and we are happy to have him next season, no problem.” Mourinho said.
Fernando Torres scored the winning goal during Chelsea’s match against Cardiff City and that only was his 5th goal in the entire season which just shows how inconsistent and underperforming the former Liverpool player has been playing in the entirety of the recently concluded campaign.
“Samuel Eto’o was here with only a one-year contract -a different situation than Fernando and Demba Ba. Of course, we want to bring a new striker in for next season, but the players we have are under contract’’. Mourinho added on.
Since the January transfer window, Mourinho has been trying to sign a new attacker to Stamford Bridge with Radamel Falcao being a priority player out of his wish-list.
Diego Costa is another target which Mourinho is keeping tabs on and will attempt to sign when the transfer window reopens during the summer.
