Chelsea captain John Terry has stated that he wants to remain at the club, but is aware that the club only take the decision to retain him in the end of the season. The contract of the 33-year-old comes to an end in the summer and there has been no talk of a new deal.
He has been linked with a move to MLS in the last few weeks. After missing the last few weeks of action due to an injury, Terry has been recently called back to the team and he showed his worth by scoring the only goal of the game in the 1-0 win over Everton. The goal came in the injury time of the match and it helped Chelsea go top of the table.
Apart from the goal, Terry also showed that he still remains one of the best defenders in the world with an exemplary performance. Prior to getting injured, the former England international has been used in every minute of the Premier league match. Ramires won the freekick, which was taken by Frank Lampard, who is also out of contract at the end of the campaign. However, it is expected that the club will offer them new deals before the end of the season, but the case of Ashley Cole is not as clear cut.
“I certainly hope I can stay. You’ll have to ask the club that question – I can’t answer for them. Recently dropping points away to West Brom, it’s important to pick up three points at home. We’re top of the league and sitting well. It’s down to the others now to catch us. [It was a] great ball from Lamps, [I] just managed to get a touch on it and I think it came off Howard in the end as well but [I’m] delighted with the win and the three points, “said Terry.
